Initially, I will take a test to understand what level the student is at and from there I will start teaching the topics that the student struggles the most with. However, if the student requests for any other topic to be taught, I will go off from that. Every month or so I might take a mini test just to see if there are any improvements. The way I taught my GCSE student who only had 1 month until her exam was by having her do past papers and any topic or question she was stuck on, I helped her with those and gave her more questions to do relating to that topic which helped her improve tremendously. Depending on the time frame from the first session and to the actually exam, the format of the lessons may be different.
