It's my labour of love, as well as my profession, to teach German at all levels and to a wide variety of people. I'm a native speaker from southwest Germany (the part with the good, French-style food) and I have five years of experience delivering 1:1 and small group teaching at the University of Cambridge. Above all, I value my students' perspectives: I want you to learn German at your pace, in your style, in a way that reflects your needs and interests.
Learning a language is not just about vocabulary and grammar (although, yes, these are very important). Learning a language is about using the language like you would your own: expressing yourself, sharing information with others, cracking jokes, singing along to the radio, finding your way around a new town, telling stories. In my lessons, I try to simulate everyday settings in which you can become used to the German language - whether you are on Day 1 of your language learning journey or an advanced speaker already.
If you're learning German for a specific purpose (to pass your upcoming exam or professional qualification, to sit a citizenship test, to further your knowledge of a specific set of specialist vocabulary), I will take this into account and teach from the relevant study materials. If you're looking to generally improve your skills, I'll choose study materials based on your interests. Just let me know what you need!
