Experienced Maths Tutor with a first class Engineering degree looking to tutor maths, all ages!

Hello! My name is Carol and I’m a software engineer at a bank! I have a degree in materials engineering (it’s like chemical engineering) so have a strong maths and science background! I’ve been tutoring for 9 years (before GCSE’s were even numbers!) and have helped students go from C,D grades to A and A* grades! I also went to a grammar school so know a lot about the 11+ and selection tests! I’m massively passionate about tutoring and have always said I don’t do it for the money I do it because I genuinely enjoy seeing my students grow in confidence and succeed!

I have taught children of all ages, from teaching number lines to year 1 students to taking an A-Level student through their maths exams!
For GCSE and Alevel I have experience in AQA, Edexcel and OCR for all subjects.

My tutoring methods are learnt from what I found helpful growing up but more so and more importantly from feedback I’ve received from previous students. I generally go through PowerPoints on a specific topic in that subject (e.g simultaneous equations in maths or respiration in biology) and then put together some exam style questions to go through together to check our learning together!

Every few months (or if in GCSE and Alevels) I like to set a knowledge learning quiz (whether in the form of a set of exam style questions for GCSE and Alevel or a Kahoot style quiz or worksheets for younger years!)
