Experienced GCSE tutor of 3 years and current medical student with a previous degree in Medical Physiology

Hello! My name is Mahwish, and I am currently studying Medicine, with a previous degree in Medical Physiology. I have found both degrees to be wonderful and extremely interesting expansions from the biology and chemistry I learnt at GCSE and A-level, and am excited to share that enthusiasm. I completely understand the stress of sitting GCSEs, and have many useful tips to handle not only the content of the exams, but also the general workload, revision, and stress that comes with them.


I have been tutoring for 3 years both on online tutor platforms and as a private one to one tutor over zoom, and have helped a variety of students to achieve and exceed their target grades in maths, English and science. Additionally, I have previous experience working with children in a learning environment, and greatly enjoy teaching. Combining this with my passion for biology, chemistry and English, I feel I am able to provide a thorough and beneficial learning experience, ideal for furthering understanding.

I aim to increase my tutees confidence in their own abilities, mainly by comprehensively covering topics they find challenging, and ensuring all lessons are individualised to the tutees learning style. I have always found personally that understanding concepts and memorisation are an incredibly important foundation to learning, but must be backed up using exam board specific exam questions to improve grades. Furthermore, I also focus on looking through mistakes and mark schemes, so that students are continually improving and evolving in their subject knowledge.


My lessons are highly adaptable based on what my students most need help with, and I aim to create an online environment in which students receive time to focus on their weaknesses - whether that may be content comprehension, exam technique or general understanding. I have most experience with students completing GCSEs in AQA and Edexcel exam boards.
