First and foremost, it is important to understand what would drive the person to learn a different language and what would it be use for. I believe strongly in practice and role play in order to keep the student engaged and keen. This can take the form of books but also signing or watching a program. Test and dictation are very important, as I believe writing is a good learning methodology.
