I'd first start with the foundation, make sure that my student has that covered and allow them to go over it as much as they want so they feel confident with it. Then we would move on to the intermediate level, sentences, pronunciation, tenses, etc. Learning a language doesn't have to be daunting, I'd make sure that they are able to use what they learn in real life.
