I am native Taiwanese and use Chinese Traditional.
I had a Japanese roommate when I was a university student. She came to Taiwan to study Chinese. We had conversation a lot mostly every day after she finished her classes on the day, she said that it helped her improve her speaking skills very fast. I also sometimes helped her correct with her homework. When she doesn't know what I am talking about, I would say that again and slowly, or write the words down to explain to her. She commended my Chinese speaking is so clear to understand.
