I am a dedicated and passionate young woman, who has recently graduated from Newcastle University, during which time I had the opportunity to work as an English teaching assistant in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
During my time here I observed and learnt new teaching styles and techniques, which I was able to put into practise and lead some class activities and tasks with students of different abilities and ages between 4 to adults.
Here, I was also given to opportunity to organise and lead workshops focussing on conversation practise, cultural exchange sessions, and exam practise for students aspiring to pass their higher English qualification.
By structuring classes around introductory tasks, group/pair work and summary activities, the classroom remained new and interesting, yet consistent and relevant.
Furthermore, I have recently completed my TEFL qualification, which has provided me with a greater understanding of how best to teach English both online and in person. This has has also taught me various new teaching techniques and has allowed me to appreciate the importance of tailoring classes to an individual level whilst maintaining a high level of collaborative work.
I would consider my expertise in conversational English teaching, providing students with real life English skills and language abilities they can apply to their own lives. This method is also key to developing essential language and confidence skills.
One of the most fulfilling parts of teaching is being a part of the development of students' language skills and growth in confidence. It is also a wonderful opportunity to exchange cultures and interact with new people.
