Advert description
An experienced and dedicated musician, Harry has been practicing, performing, and composing music, spanning mediums and genres, for over a decade. Developing his love for the art in a musical household, his mother – a music teacher - encouraged him to take up piano lessons at age 5. Since then, he has gone on to win performance and composition competitions, participate in internationally recognized workshops and courses, and have music performed and conducted by world renowned musicians. Currently he is studying at the Royal Academy of Music in London, working towards a Bachelor of Music in Composition. Harry’s music has been critiqued by pioneering artists such as Samuel Andreyev, David Sawer, Philip Cashian and Aaron Holloway-Nahum of the Riot Ensemble – who recently conducted a successful workshop of his piece for Symphonic Winds. Alongside his endeavors in composition, Harry is a talented trumpet and piano player. In 2021, Harry participated in the Tanglin Trust International School Young Musician of the Year Competition, winning with a performance of his demanding original composition for piano, Etude in C Minor. Harry has applied the wealth of skill and knowledge he has amassed in the field of classical composition to many other genres. A talented film composer, Harry’s music seeks to achieve an amalgam of old and new, combining traditional compositional practices with cutting edge electronic experimentation. Demonstrating utmost proficiency in sound design, synthesis and production, Harry’s film scores were acclaimed highly by the creative technology department of the Royal Academy of Music. These skills have also enabled Harry to pursue musical achievement in modern popular music, creating house, techno, and other electronic music. On top of this, since attending the Guildhall School of Music Jazz Summer School in 2016, Harry has been composing and improvising at a high level within the Jazz medium, taking specific interest in modal and modern jazz practices. In 2020 Harry participated in an English Language teaching program, conducting lessons and tutoring with foreign laborers in Singapore. Through this experience he gained valuable insight into the methods and approaches which prove most successful in teaching a language or skill. Applying these skills, Harry took up the role of GCSE Music Composition Mentor, teaching and guiding students.
