My teaching approach is personalised to the individual student, and involves three major components:
1. Understanding & applying examined content.
This involves analysing and applying the students' classroom content. My teaching will be tailored to the student's exam board and their relevant mark scheme, ensuring they can understand what content, research and skills their examiners are looking for.
2. Essay technique.
I specialise in teaching students how to organise, prioritise and structure their arguments in an essay format, tailored to their exam board requirements and their own writing style.
Essay technique is an essential skill, enabling students to organise their taught material into coherent arguments, and to excel under time-bound exam conditions.
3. Study skills (active recall, time management, revision resources).
Understanding how a student engages with new material and applies knowledge is crucial to developing their revision technique.
I am proficient in teaching students to develop their own revision technique, through active recall exercises and effective methods of memorisation.
I am skilled at developing revision plans with students, building consistent habits of testing and applying their taught knowledge, rather than merely teaching students to regurgitate classroom content.
