I am a journalist, linguist and copywriter.
- I obtained a TEFL certificate last year, which was a fairly good crystallisation of 20+ years of foreign language learning; and a fine way to cement my A* in English A Level. English was one of the 3 languages that I studied at the culmination of my school career, along with French and Spanish (I obtained A*s and As in all of them).
Alongside my A Levels, I took a 10-month-long introductory course in Portuguese to prepare me for my university degree. At the end of this year I took a GCSE in Portuguese and was awarded an A.
--> I then studied 2 languages at University (French and Portuguese BA, University of Bristol).
- Teaching-wise, I have taught English when I lived in Rio de Janeiro, helping Brazilians with their English whilst they applied for English-speaking jobs (mostly in America).
- I have since taught my younger sister an introduction to Portuguese before she began her joint honours degree with Portuguese at university. She has since graduated, missing a First Class degree by 1 percentage point.
^ While neither of these experiences are official tutoring agency jobs, I know that 20+ years of language tuition, plus a BA in two languages (while still speaking Spanish at B2 level), will equip me well to teach for Find Tutors.
My lessons will be tailored, enjoyable and interactive lessons with a tutor who loves languages and is determined for his students to too.
Foreign languages are a gift that need to be shared, and I am determined to do so with anybody who would like to learn!
