Advert description
Hi,
I have a degree in biosciences from Durham University and I am starting a masters in Immunology and Infection at UCL. I have tutored an A-level student for a year both online and in-person.
My lessons are very flexible depending on what the student or parent wants to do. I have previously tutored a student in A-level biology and from this, I learnt that it's best if I have an idea before the session of what the student wants to learn or what they are struggling with. Then before the session, I can come up with a plan on how I can help. This often involves diagrams or pictures because, in my opinion, visual learning is the best way to learn biology. Then I can guide the student through the thought process for learning the topic in question, making a difficult concept easy to understand.
In terms of remembering the content, I am a big fan of exam practice (if that is what the student or parent thinks is required). Especially for students who are going to take GCSCs or A levels where doing many exam questions is critical to getting good at the skill of understanding and answering exam questions. Thus in the past, what I found worked well is that the student answers some exam questions, sends their answers to me and then I mark them and give constructive feedback.
In the end, I hope to help the student gain skills to exceed in biology, improve their understanding of topics in biology and grow their interest and passion for biology.
Thank you for reading!
