Advert description
Having worked as a 1-2-1 online ESL Tutor for the past 4+ years, I believe I have built valuable skills to be a successful online tutor. I have successfully supported students in passing IELTs exams, preparing for boarding school interviews, getting ahead in their school work, plus helping adults progress in their careers by improving their English Language skills.
For the past 2 years, I have worked for a reputable Russel Group University as an Education and Student Experience Advisor. My role involved many things, but my main responsibility was coordinating our Peer Support Scheme for all students in the Business School (3000 students). As part of this work, not only did I have to become well versed in peer learning techniques, facilitation techniques and more, but I was in charge of training a team of 40 Peer Leaders to deliver this work with our students. I had to create and deliver the training to all 40 of the team, with one of my impacts in the school being a newly developed online course to assist in this training that I created alongside one of my colleagues. This role only solidified my skills as a tutor, giving me more understanding and depth as to why I use the methods I do when I tutor my students.
I take a person-centred approach by taking the time to understand how my students learn and what their individual goals are, and adapting my tutoring accordingly.
I also have relevant experience from previous jobs including mentoring staff and assisting in training for staff which I would be happy to elaborate on.
As well as my practical experience, I have an A level in Psychology and a 2:1 BSc Criminology and Psychology degree. So as it is evident, Psychology has always been a passion of mine!
To have the opportunity to take my love for tutoring and my life-long interest in Psychology, and combine the two in this role would be absolutely amazing and I feel excited at the possibility of this role!
