Advert description
Hello,
I have a broad knowledge of art history, with two main specialities which spread into all sorts of others areas like the roots of a tree. I wrote my PhD thesis on Caravaggio, so one of my specialities is Italian art of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. To write this, it was necessary to broaden my understanding of European art of the Early Modern period, spanning the early Renaissance through to late eighteenth century – everything is linked. Furthermore, working as an art critic, I have developed a strong knowledge of art from all periods, especially in Europe and the Americas. And having published reviews, features, interviews and artist profiles in numerous art magazines globally, I am also well-versed in contemporary art and critical theory and methods.
So I'm a bit of an all-rounder when it comes to thinking and writing about art. As for my teaching experience, while completing my PhD, I taught a class of undergraduates at the University of Reading, focusing on Italian Renaissance art. More recently, I have guided PhD students through their viva preparations, with a 100% pass rate. I can help you by offering the following:
- Teaching classes and providing guidance on European art from the classical era to the present, global contemporary art, art historical and critical methods, and theory.
- Tutoring through art history syllabuses, delivering classes and seminars.
- Confidence-building, so you can build your ideas about art and express them clearly in words.
- Essay guidance and feedback, helping with structure and focus, the unpacking of ideas.
- Exam/viva preparation, revision classes and practice discussions.
I hope to hear from you soon!
Best wishes,
Tom
