Advert description
During my Degree I had to present my work to audiences with little to no background knowledge of the topics I researched for my dissertation and internship projects. I had to come up with ways to communicate and explain often very complicated topics within a limited time frame to provide a basic understanding. This has developed the skills necessary to break down concepts into their key components and present them in ways that are understandable to audiences with varying background knowledge .
A typical lesson will involve introducing a new concept, via boiling it down to its key principles and processes. I will then go through a ‘real world’ example. I believe this is an important part of learning as it shows my students how concepts are used outside of the classroom. This is then followed by a series of practice questions I have prepared, ranging in difficulty. We go through these practice questions step by step with the student taking the lead. I will then follow this with a final ‘exam style’ question so that the student knows what to expect during an exam. It concludes with me setting homework questions for the student to complete in their own time, which I then mark and give feedback during the first part of the next lesson.
