I’m a student who works as a teaching assistant. I also teach a child who has special needs. My teaching is tailored towards ks1.

For the first lesson, I will give the student a test to know where their level is currently at and will use this to tailor the lessons for them. I will ask the student if they have any areas they find difficult and will come prepared with the following materials to make sure they feel confident in the topic. During the lesson I will also ask the student to explain how they think they should answer the questions in the exam and will compare it to answer following the exam board criteria. I will also give them homework which I will then take home to mark and provide feedback in the following lesson. When they improve, I will increase the difficulty of the homework and we will practice the higher level materials, but making sure the student has a strong foundation on the core topics/ on topics they should know confidently for their year group.
