Friendly and Non-traditional Online Music Tutor

Hello!
I am Jonathan, a music tutor and composer originally from Bolton, Greater Manchester. I currently reside in the blissful countryside of Mid Wales.

I have been teaching for over six years. I switched permanently to online tuition in 2018, long before national lockdown was even a commonly known concept.

As per my headline, I aim to be a non-traditional music tutor!
I cater primarily to adults and teenagers who want to learn music outside of the standard formal system.
I have particular experience working with neurodivergent students. I aim to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all.

If you're interested in learning an instrument/music but think "a teacher is not for me" (as I once did), then I'm the tutor for you!

Instruments taught: Piano / Guitar / Bass Guitar / Accordion / Ukulele.

Example lesson content/activities (to name but a few!):

*Playing music from sheet music/chord charts/TAB/by ear, tailored to each students' style of learning and musical tastes. This includes songs, classical pieces, video-game music, film scores etc.
*Composition/songwriting mentoring. Orchestration is a personal favourite topic!
*Jazz improvisation, through Mark Levine’s ‘The Jazz Piano Book’.
*Bach chorales and counterpoint.
*Conducting lessons.
*Arranging music for accordion.
*Music history lessons.
*GCSE and A Level guidance.
*Music production (DAWs, mixing, virtual instruments etc.).

Each lesson is completely unique, and I work by the motto "the most ridiculous question is the one never asked".
