Advert description
As a qualified Brazilian lawyer, I provide a collection of unique skills and experiences that provide me with the necessary skill set to make a valuable contribution to teaching law such as: working in a team and valuing diversity as well as multidisciplinary work and cooperation; having cognitive flexibility, that is, the ability to see new perspectives and create new solutions to problems presented; having good negotiation and interpersonal communication skills to seek the best agreement to my clients; having the capacity for judgment and decision-making to be able to see the problem and propose solutions. My law degree dissertation investigated “International Responsibility of Transnational Corporations and Other Companies in the Violation of Human Rights” provided me with a greater knowledge about human rights, human rights violations and ways to guarantee and protect them, especially concerning minority groups.
My postgraduate qualification in tax law has provided me with a greater understanding of financial matters and allows me to understand the unique challenges that individuals might face and most importantly, the need for a fairer tax system, especially with regard to the poorest population, and one that is more efficient in promoting social justice through the financing of public policies. Furthermore, my Master of Laws programme developed my understanding of human rights and employment issues in the UK ensuring I have a strong knowledge base to support clients. My training has been diverse and included amongst others: criminal law, tort law, human rights and diversity, criminology, corporate law, tax law, property, business law, equity and trust, sociology, anthropology, criminal law procedural, and legal medicine.
I worked in a law office in Conselheiro Lafaiete, Minas Gerais specialising in family law for one year. In this role, I worked in the legal practice centre which involved the management of divorce proceedings and the facilitation of child maintenance payments predominantly for people with low incomes. Since March 2019 I have worked at the Ouro Preto court, Minas Gerais dealing with conciliation hearings and mediation of a variety of cases of criminal and civil law. I have enjoyed both jobs which have provided me with a sound foundation in these law processes.
