Start with a basic warm up to get the blood flowing. Involves skipping/running and a handful of exercises followed by a sequence of stretches to improve mobility and prepare the body for activity.
I start with the basics of stance and movement, showing each student how to stand and move effectively focusing on their understanding of the purpose and strength of each movement. Progressively build up from pad work and shadow boxing to more realistic partner drills and training.
Once effectively warmed up sessions will have different focuses and intentions to make sure my students hone their skills I all departments. These can include: footwork, head movement, the jab, angles and mind set. Once progression has been made sparring and partner drills can occur on a more realistic level which I will also involve myself in.
The sessions finish with a cool down and stretch during which we will discuss the mental aspects of the sport. Things such as determination, focus, commitment and understanding. These aspects I also relate to normal aspects of daily life which boxing is the mirror of.
