I'm passionate about helping others achieve their goals. So, I'll ask them what they want to achieve with these private lessons and lay out objectives, goals that need to be cleared. Then I'll work towards clearing them by working on the basics of the class and making sure those are met and, importantly, understood. Afterwards we keep doing the same, focusing on more complex topics.

I find that this style of teaching hits home easily, especially if we actually treat the students like human beings. We have to remember we're not working with machines here (I mean, we are on the computer but shh) and that people are extremely varied and, more important, aren't idiots. We've all had some professor that blatantly assumed our intellegence to be sub-par and I think that doesn't help anyone learn properly. It's important to understand that our students are working WITH us. Not that we're working for them or that they're forced to be here by their parents or some other reason. It's a group effort.

So... yeah! That's about it! I teach trough mutual self respect and understanding that errors are the main way we learn and that they are to be made.
