Advert description
I have been teaching Spanish, as a private tutor and as Spanish Teaching Assistant at Highfields School, and this is something that gives me great satisfaction.
The lessons have been always delivered with goals and objectives based on the organisation specification and the student’s expectations. For every group or individual I teach, I always start with a scheme of work with clear objectives and tasks and ensuring students are equipped with the correct knowledge and skills to undertake speaking and writing controlled assessments. To achieve this, I have also been following the AQUA and Eduqas national curriculum. When I plan the lessons, I tend to use authentic material that I bring from my trips to Spain or South America, or resources I created over the years as well as the ones I find on line. I have learned from experience the importance about being flexible, I plan a range of activities that are not only for the lesson but also for unforeseen circumstances.
I believe continuous assessment is a great tool either for the person who delivers the lesson or for the one who receives it. I actively engage my students in either formal or informal setting assessment. For the latter I use different oral – auditive tasks as role plays in pairs , discussions about themes in which young people is interested and written informal exercises who helps me to identify where specifically they are in comparison with the curriculum and gives me an insight of where and how to approach my teaching techniques. For the former, I created formal settings environment to give my students a taste of what she could experience in real their expectation but also has taught me plan ahead, remain calm and work to deadlines.
My students always tell me that they enjoy the lesson not only because they have fun when learning the language but also they discover a culture unknown for them.
