Advert description
I am experienced in teaching students on how to attain high marks in English language and literature texts, as well as allowing students to understand and comprehend, certain language techniques and punctuation usage. Furthermore, I am able to aid students on how to interpret, and analyse different texts, allowing them to gain knowledge, on the writers intentions.
Due to previous studies, i possess the capability of helping students master , literature and language techniques in the following texts, as well as many more:
- A Christmas carol - Charles Dickens
- A Inspector calls - J.B Priestley
- Macbeth - William Shakespeare
- Poetry Anthology ( 18 various themed poems from different poets )
Additionally, within a classroom setting, online or in person, i will ensure that all pupils are able to fully understand what they are learning , and i will do this by constant "retrieval practices" before every lesson. Retrieval practices include, selective questions from the previous lessons work, that the students must answer independently, before sharing their answers. By doing this, it allows, me as a tutor, to identify any gaps within their knowledge and revist certain topics, as well as widening other pupils understanding, pertaining to a particular topic, while maintaining such information, in the students long term memory.
Retrieval practices take no longer than ten minutes, at the start of the lesson.
Once the retrieval practice is complete, we will read a text and study various types of spelling, punctuation, tone and grammar, and why the writer utilises such techniques, including how the use of certain techniques makes the readers feel.
In order for the pupils to fully comprehend the extract given, i would proceed to give them questions regarding what they have read and give pupils feedback on how to improve their answers.
To ensure that students are able to reach their maximum potential, i would give them a set amount of spelling words to learn, testing them once a week, as this would increase, not only their marks, but also their use of high, relevant and specific vocabulary and terminology when faced with a question.
Finally, i will end the lesson on a plenary, summarising all the information given in the lesson, making it easier for students to remember.
