The best approach to learning I feel is by doing and making errors. It is only then you learn about the mistakes that should not be made. This is the approach I take, where regardless of the topic, basic or advanced. There will be sufficient practice involved to learn how to address mistakes. My method of teaching would also prepare you for the real world of programming, as to what it's like getting a programming job.
