Advert description
Since graduating with a First Class Degree in Classical Guitar from Leeds Conservatoire in 2013, Matías has gained valuable experience teaching in both group settings and one to one. Alongside teaching work, he has toured extensively around UK and Europe with a variety of different groups including his own projects and recorded numerous albums and written for TV and cinema. This varied experience of performing, composing, teaching and recording has given Matías the skills to fully develop students potential and help them achieve their musical goals, whether that be on classical guitar, electric or bass.
Matías teaches beginners to advanced students ages 4 and up. He offers graded exam tuition (ABRSM and Trinity) and aims to tailor the lesson to suit the student’s needs, whether that focusses on musical expression in performance, improving technique, learning how to read notation or the fundamentals of music theory. Enjoyment is paramount so Matías will always keep the joy of learning music at the forefront of lessons. A solid grounding in all aspects of music is essential when learning an instrument so Matías will cover different areas over the course of a lesson. A typical lesson will begin with warm up exercises. Typically these involve simple open string picking patterns and exercises to promote finger independence. This will be followed by work on scales, sight reading and finally a composition. Matías teaches all genres but specialises in classical music.
A first lesson for a beginner may seem initially challenging but Matías aims to keep the experience enjoyable at all stages of learning. All resources are provided so the student only needs to bring their instrument and a passion to play!
