Advert description
Hi, I'm Luke. I'm an approachable and relatable tutor, with a teaching style that puts the needs and interests of my students first. I like to make lessons fun and enjoyable, whilst also taking the time to build relationships with each of the young people I interact with.
I have been a tutor for over a decade, and have a 100% pass success rate, with extensive experience teaching GCSE maths and science to a huge variety of students with differing needs. I have a particular passion for helping those with mental health issues, having first hand experience in processing and managing complex emotions, whilst also succeeding in an academic environment. I have had many students over the years with different degrees of mental difficulties, from severe anxiety and depression, to developmental disorders like ASD and ADHD. I hold a Level 2 TQUK certificate in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, and use this knowledge combined with my own experience to find the best educational approach for each individual.
As an active conservation scientist I have a lot to bring to a tutoring position. I have worked all over the world, in interesting places with interesting animals and environments; from gibbons in Thailand to killer whales in Iceland. This gives me the unique ability to show you the real-world applications of your studies, which is essential in fully understanding the point and purpose of learning at GCSE and A-level.
I have worked with students from a variety of background and ages, and have developed whole syllabuses of education material for primary school programs, having taught in both one-on-one and classroom scenarios. Combined with this experience, I maintain a very personable and compassionate approach to all interactions, finding the delicate balance between relatability and authority that I feel creates a very formative and personal teaching system, tailored directly to you.
