Lets Learn The Language of Our Universe

Advert description
Hi Everyone,

In kindergarten I was taught how to color in the lines, how to read a poem or how to play a piano. I havent come across a situation where I was compelled to demonstrate one of these skills. Yet these exercises were very useful in the development of my childhood.

Neither I was ever stopped by a mugger who would show me a gun and force me to write the quadratic formula or ask me to prove that the opposite side of a parallelogram have the same slope or to show him that the derivative of a cubic function is a qudratic function.

Maths (I would include physics in the same rank) is a training tool for critical thinking and problem solving skills. You might not be using the exact same content in your real life but it would certinly enhance your acumen of handling problems with confidence. Maths is immersive and reflective as a discipline and can be applied to anything.

Maths is our sense for patterns, relationships and logical connections. I feel lucky to enjoy such a wonderful subject and I hope our education system becomes fascinating enough to spark playful engagement for more and more students.

I have been teaching Maths and Physics to GCSE/O levels/Cambridge students using video tutorials (from youtube) and real life applications alongside textbook material.

The idea is to inculcate enthusiasm amongst the knowledge seekers who want to go beyond the superficial understanding and are willing to delve in the core.

After interacting with a few presumably bright students, I have come to realize that concepts such as functions, trigonometry, differential calculus, integral calculus, electricity, atomic model, kinematics, vectors etc. are taught mostly to attempt questions in the paper which only gauges how well a student can remember and execute identities, relations and formula's. I try to make my students understand the underlying problem which the expression, relation, identity or the fromula is trying to solve.

On the contrary, the intuitive understanding of these topics to grasp fundamentals and the reason why they exist as a tool, concept or means are not broached at length by most school teachers (at least in my expereince so far).

I have a BS in Computer Science with Canadian experience at my disposal.

Best of luck to all of you.
