I am Marika, an evolutionary biologist with a master thesis in virology. I really enjoyed
university, learning, working in a laboratory, doing research, publishing a paper, but after a
while I realized that I was missing something. Even though I was aware that the work I was
carrying out was pretty useful to our society (I was involved in SARS-COV-2 research) I was
not feeling it, I was missing something.
I then realized that what I was doing, as a side job, for more than 5 years was actually my
passion. Teaching. I enjoy being with kids and teenagers, I enjoy finding the right way or
strategy to get them passionate about what we are learning and I like to see them succeed.
Until now, I have always found a way to make that happen. Over the years I developed my
empathy and I started to use it to better understand the situations I was facing and to adapt
to each one of them.
I think that being young is a plus in this field. I have a lot of energy, I have a plastic mind
ready to change point of view and strategy, I have studied all the latest discoveries that have
been made in biology, and I remember how students feel.
The fact that I've studied and worked in three different countries gave me the opportunity to
open my mind and to get better at adapting myself to every situation, finding solutions, and
learning quickly. Let's try to learn together!
