Legal English, English for Academic Purposes and Business English: lessons from a UK lawyer

Advert description
I love teaching:
- I love finding clear explanations for complex ideas.
- I am interested in my students, their cultures and their lives.
- and I love to make lessons motivating ... where possible!

I teach adults and young people aged 14-18, usually one-to-one, usually online.

As a teacher: I have 4,500 hours of experience, half with OISE and half online; I'm a native English speaker, with a clear professional accent. I I have worked with young people from schools and universities all over the world, and with executives from companies like Hitachi, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, EDF, General Electric, Renault, SIFA Aérien, SGN-Areva, In Extenso, EHL Lausanne, Dow Wolff Cellulosics, Deutscher Wetterdienst, Kerneos, Turbomeca, España, HSBC Bank, Banca Barclays Italia and Wincor Nixdorf.

As a lawyer: I have an LL.B bachelor's degree in law, and the Solicitors' Finals (a Master's level law qualification. I worked as a solicitor (a UK attorney or advocate) for 20 years; I was a CPD trainer for other solicitors; and I wrote the "Personal Injury Handbook" (2005) for the Law Society of England & Wales.
But (like Voltaire) I decided that 20 years as a lawyer was enough, so I became a teacher and a French English translator instead!

The time I spent with Nicholas was very good. In terms of teaching, I think he knows how to adapt to the students and their needs and find the best way for them to improve while having fun. I could really feel my English improving. We also spent time doing other activities in the area, mainly exploring the countryside, visiting some villages and historical monuments; I learnt a lot from our little excursions. Nicholas has a vast knowledge related to nature, which fits in very well with the environment in which he lives. I'd like to repeat the experience someday. I highly recommend him!
