Experience
I have a Ph.D. in Professional Music (Guitar) and I have been teaching in both the UK and Poland since 2000. During this time, I have worked with children and students of all ages and abilities in addition to delivering workshops around Europe and North America.
I teach guitar at the University of Salford and The Music Academy in Gdańsk, Poland.
I have also taught students the guitar, bass guitar, double bass, and ukulele for some independent music services.
I am comfortable and effective in working in school settings, following requirements set by schools, and nurturing talent in all my pupils. My professor’s degree was awarded to me by the Polish Education Board which was officially signed off by the Polish President himself and I was honored with the Medal for Merit to Culture (Gloria Artis) in Poland for my contributions to Polish culture.
I have published many transcriptions with analyses and audio tracks in guitar magazines around the world – this includes Guitar Techniques (UK), Guitarist (UK), Top Guitar (PL), Gitarzysta (PL), Chittara Acoustica (IT), and Akustik Gitarre (DE). My educational book, ‘Acoustic Blues Adventures with Adam Palma’ has been published in English, German, Polish and it also includes a complementary DVD. I aimed to make the learning experience clear, fun, and easy for the book and I carry these principles into my in-person teachings as well.
My last album, ‘Adam Palma Meet Chopin’ (2019), was the first-ever interpretation of Chopin’s music on the acoustic guitar. Following its success, the Chicago Tribune cited my album as one of the top ten jazz albums of the first half of 2020. With my experience and successes in the music industry, I can give valuable advice to students about what it takes to be a professional musician and I can help them to think more creatively.
I have played numerous concerts with
