I have always been passionate about learning, always going beyond what was expected, and constantly exhilarated by looking at problems from different angles or using different methods for the same problem. This naturally led to my passion for teaching.

I tutored Mathematics and Chemistry 10 hours a week to a variety of ages, from GCSE up to A-level. I tutor both in-person and online, carefully tailoring the lesson to each student depending on ability, interest and exam board. I am often communicating with parents on students’ performance and offer my opinion on what techniques they can use to do better. I am familiar with the current mark schemes and understand where marks are awarded, which I believe to be a core teaching resource. I teach the common tricks and pitfalls employed by examiners year after year and focus on areas that most teachers leave too late or don’t go into enough detail, enabling my students to achieve the top grades. I always teach from understanding the basic principles so that harder questions can be tackled with ease.

The first time I meet a student I give them a paper to find out what they do and don't know. I like teach synoptically as this keeps it interesting for the student and ensures they achieve the top grades in exams.

He has a great ability break down complex methodology to make it easier to understand, which helped my son get to grips with topics he was finding challenging. My son would also save up difficult questions which he would then work through with Luke during the lesson. Luke made the lessons really interesting and engaging and my son actually really enjoyed them! Not only did Luke greatly improve my son’s mathematical ability, his lessons also really improved his confidence. He went from a low B to a predicted A* which helped him get the university offers he was aiming for. I would thoroughly recommend Luke as a tutor.

Luke tutored my son in GCSE Chemistry. After a disappointing mock result, I decided to employ a tutor and luckily was pointed in Luke’s direction. Luke’s natural ability to encourage and empower his students immediately engaged a 16 year old and he is someone that my son really looks up to. Luke dealt directly with my son on appointments and work and treated him as an equal which awakened something and led to my son taking full responsibility for himself and his work. My son’s ability in Chemistry, something he was only mildly interested in, grew to the point that he did not have to be told to revise the subject and he came out of both of his papers absolutely delighted that he had covered all of the questions and was able to answer them well. We are extremely grateful to Luke for his hard work with our son and would highly recommend him.
