Advert description
Hello there, I'm Dan, I'm 24 and a recent University of York graduate with an Economics and History degree.
I have been a tutor now for 9 years, working with a wide variety of ages and abilities. For the first three years I was doing this alongside my schooling as a private tutor for a variety of GCSE subjects, specialising in Maths and English Literature (& Language). I kept tutoring whilst at University and developed my skills joining a collaborative student tuition group, learning how to deliver better education to my clients. In the-Academic Year I left University and pursued a career as a rower, to support this I tutored during term time with the TutorTrust and GetFurther. Both of these are accredited institutions with a great regional reputation and I was awarded 'Newcomers of the Year' at the TutorTrust, beating hundreds of other tutors to this award for both my student-facing approach and behind the scenes commitment to delivering a better service.
My approach as a tutor is holistic. I believe that every child has individual learning needs and so will create personalised structure to the lesson, however to balance this there are scientifically-researched methods and techniques that have better retention and pass rates than others. I also like to strike a good balance between pursuit of passion in the subject and the need to get a good grade to reflect your hard work.
In the 22-23 Academic Year I kept several private clients whilst rowing in the GB team, competing at the European Championships this summer. This feeds into my mantra that there is no substitute for consistent and dedicated work.
