Advert description
I have an undergraduate Master's Degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of Nottingham and a postgraduate Master's Degree in Materials Science. Throughout university I have pursued and excelled in advanced mathematical topics. While studying at the University of Nottingham I tutored guitar for 2 years, typically seeing my students on a weekly or bi-weekly basis during term time and getting very positive feedback regarding my teaching approach.
Before university I studied maths, further maths and physics all at A level, achieving A*AA respectively. I achieved the highest A level grades in my school year group and spent much of my time in and out of lessons helping to teach my classmates maths.
My approach to teaching is very patient and friendly. I always try to break down seemingly difficult concepts and questions into easier steps as I find that many people who struggle with maths feel overwhelmed. Some who are struggling with maths can shut down and tell themselves that maybe they aren't naturally good enough, I do not believe that this is the case, a big part of maths is confidence and approach, which I focus on improving. Finally, everyone learns differently, the same concept can be internalised many different ways by different people, which is why I believe that a 'one size fits all' approach to teaching concepts is often not optimal. If a student is struggling with a certain concept after one explanation, I will try to explain it from another angle.
