Advert description
I am a professional writer/singer/left-handed upside-down guitar slinger! I have over 40 years spent writing and singing, along with finessing the guitar. I have over 400 fully written songs, and another 200 in process.
I taught myself how to play a right-handed guitar upside-down (strings upside-down) when I was 10 and was asked to leave class because I was left-handed and simply could not play as I was being told I had to.
I have helped children from age 10 to adults over 60, learn how to play guitar and write songs, with an unconventional teaching method of: "Nothing is Bad"...nothing anyone writes is "wrong", or "bad", "not good".
Students of all ages need to be able to explore their their own niche for learning; need to be able to play chords that are different sounding than your basic 1-4-5 blues progression for example...
NOTHING is off limits. To be clear: I do NOT allow racism, racist comments, or ANY kind of discriminatory or "hate" music. I believe music can heal us, others, perhaps the Universe, but not done with 'hate'. Nothing good, or decent ever comes from that.
I foster a fun musical environment, where taking a chance is a good thing; making mistakes is not only alright, but sometimes e thing you can learn from, even if that means to just let go and move on.
I honestly do not believe that there are 'bad' singers, 'bad' musicians...I believe there is a huge amount of lost and unrealized potential, especially when it comes to success either on a personal, or a professional level. Major causes can be well meaning parents/guardians/even educators who will often try and instill in the students, thoughts that the "music biz" is too hard! They're not wrong, but that's no reason to not go for it anyway! Some, many in fact have an inherent fear of failure along with fear of success, each of which can make making art, excruciatingly painful. Still, when you take away the fences, and the 'rules'; the "should's", amazing things happen right before yours and the students' very eyes!
And while I have not reached the kind of success, (yet!) I have always aspired to, I have not given up. I am right there in the thick of it, and whether a student or class wants high level recognition or just to be able to entertain themselves and family or friends, I can help make it happen while keeping the students integrity fully intact!
