Advert description
I have a BA Hons (First Class) in History from Birkbeck, University of London and was awarded one of the first annual Hobsbawm Scholarships by Birkbeck in 2014.
My studies encompassed a wide range of historical research, from the Roman Republic and Egypt in Late Antiquity to medieval and Renaissance Europe. I have also researched modern European history extensively and have a particular interest in modern France and the effects of its colonial experience. I have also written about Weimar Germany and the historiography of the Nazi seizure of power.
I am interested in all aspects of the philosophy of history, with particular emphasis on the history of everyday life. With my experience I want to help students identify their core research goals and help with practical tips like finding the best primary sources and the selection and use of bibliographies.
At secondary school level, I'm keen to help new history students explore their areas of interests and produce imaginative work which is guided by the demands of their history curriculum.
