My lessons vary in format between students, specifically tailored to their individual learning methods. I have learnt from experience the different areas where students find difficult and made smaller exercises to identify problems and troubleshoot them. I take notes of the type of songs the students like and plan a time-frame in which you would be projected to play it, which will vary depending on the difficulty of the song(s) suggested. Along the way, you will learn about basic music theory and techniques, which we will use to build the skills needed for the songs you want to learn.
I aim to make each lesson as engaging and informative as possible, with plenty of time for the students to practise and ask questions. After each lesson, I will suggest a couple exercises or parts of a song to go through between then and our upcoming lessons, and recap everything in the next session to promote active learning.
Personally, I enjoy playing fingerstyle blues on acoustic guitar, as well as pop and rock songs. Although fingerstyle guitar is challenging at first, you get a lot of bang for your buck for the time you'd need to practise to perfect it! I do not tutor students wanting to do professional grades for guitar
