Algebra 1, 2, geometry, trigonometry (sine, cosine, tanget), metrics.
When at the board; I'm working with the class. I'm asking them for the next step. Afterwords; I'm walking around and asking. When a question arises I get to the board and show the class. I will let them know if there’s an "easier way". Example: When multiplying; cut the smaller number into ones and tens, multiply, add. A problem like 18*36=10*36+8*30+8*6=360+240+48=600+48=648.
This is how I get their respect.
