Advert description
I have a BMus (Hons) from Edinburgh University (with outstanding result for recital) and an Master’s in Musicology (MSt) from Oxford University. I’ve been teaching piano in Glasgow (& London) for over ten years, and spent last year teaching and accompanying in Egilsstadir, the capital of East Iceland. I have a friendly and creative approach to teaching, ample materials and love to encourage duet playing with students. At the outset I encourage younger students to learn both by ear and by reading musical notation. We use a mixture of simultaneous percussion (tapping the piano etc!) and playing the keyboard to work on coordination of rhythms and of the body. During the Covid pandemic I also learned to adapt my teaching to online conditions. It’s a little more restrictive but a lot can be learned this way! I teach from a beautiful Bechstein grand piano at home.
Yoga
I am also a qualified yoga instructor and teach beginner and flow classes in studios and online. Get in touch if you’re interested in yoga 1-1! My 200 hr qualification is in Hatha yoga, taken at Balance Glasgow, and I’m soon to complete an advanced sequencing 40 hr course with Laura Gilmore. I love meeting students and their bodies where they are in their complicated life journey; and finding the best yoga tools to help them flourish.
