Advert description
I am a certified German teacher! But more emportantly, I am enthusiastic about foreign language education, love teaching and place learner needs at the centre of everything I do.
I graduated with a degree in German Language and Literature in 2017 and completed my teacher training in the summer of 2018. Right after completing my certification I started working as a teacher for German as a Foreign Language at Insula, International House in Cologne. There, I independently developed personalised lesson plans and facilitated highly immersive, student-centred and communicative classes. Thanks to many, many hours spent teaching for Insula and a deep passion for teaching I am now equipped with a well-rounded skill-set. Since moving to Scotland/the UK, I have worked with a varied learners base. Most recently, I have been working at the University of Glasgow and the University of Strathclyde.
I feel confident saying that I perfected my motivational skills as well as my ability to identify and react to students’ needs while supporting them advance their understanding of the German language and culture.
Some things I have become really good at:
•Creating personalised and level appropriate teaching material within the European Framework of References for Languages for learners of all backgrounds
•Employing a variety of instructional and learning approaches and methods including amongst other things gamification techniques.
•Instructing communicative and interactive lessons.
•Equipping my students with 'real life' language skills as opposed to all the crazy formal things that no one really says - but I can do that, too, if you are studying German for Higher Education!
•Creating a safe learning environment for students to experiment with and improve their German language skills.
I am a dedicated and creative teacher with a sincere passion for teaching. I care deeply about my students and their experiences in the language learning context and always do my very best to ensure learners receive the high quality teaching they deserve. I believe that everyone has the potential to master a foreign language and that learning success is a matter of unlocking that potential by creating a safe space and an encouraging environment.
