My classroom is always welcoming with a warm, friendly and safe learning environment for children; all of my teaching notes are filed and up to date. I created a well-balanced timetable that covers all curricular areas, so that there is structure and rout

Advert description
In my daily teaching practice, I am aiming to help pupils become successful learners, responsible citizens, confident individuals. I do this by teaching them knowledge and skills in a range of curricular areas while trying to provide progression, relevance, coherence, breadth, depth, challenge, enjoyment, personalisation and choice. The current Curriculum for Excellence places children at the heart of the learning process. Its four fundamental capacities (Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Responsible Citizens and Effective contributors) aim to provide the children with all necessary skills to become successful in their adult life. A large part of my teaching time is dedicated to Literacy, Numeracy and HBW. I take very seriously the raising the attainment challenge, I am very aware of its importance and aim - to provide focused and effective teaching for all children regardless of the family income, and create inclusion and equality across Scotland. During my lessons, I share Learning Intentions with the class to make clear to the class what they will be learning. We often create success criteria together with the children. L.I. and S.C. are always displayed, I refer to them throughout the lesson and revisit at the end during our plenaries. I use a wide range of assessment strategies: self and peer assessment, verbal feedback, formative and summative assessments, traffic lights, etc. My teaching always relates to real life situations. This has an impact on my future teaching and planning as it provides me with evidence and indicates to me the areas that still need to be addressed. I have experience identifying children with ASN and follow the staged intervention process as well as completing Additional Support Plans (ASP) for individual children, to help support them with a range of learning and health and wellbeing barriers. I support children 9/13 with differentiated tasks, one to tone work, visual examples, a quite working area, chunking instructions. I often seek their feedback, ideas and thoughts on how else I can support them and help them to progress. I regularly adapt my teaching methods and the class environment to support the children.
