Advert description
Hi, I’m Anya. I am a recent graduate from University College London with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Throughout my academic journey thus far, I have obtained 8 A*s and 2 A’s at GCSE and A*AA at A-Level, in the subjects of Psychology, Biology and English Literature respectively. I strongly believe that my passion for helping others to learn and succeed academically, in combination with my natural ability to work well with younger individuals, has placed me in a beneficial position for becoming a tutor.
I have a large amount of experience being a tutor, having worked as both a teacher’s assistant in a private school and providing private tuition (face-to-face and remotely) over the last 3 years. Having this experience of working with children in a school has allowed me to learn and apply a variety of different teaching methods to fit the unique learning styles of different students. Successful application of these teaching methods has meant that I have been able to improve student’s performances by two academic grades, across both GCSE and A-Level examinations.
As a tutor, I have a motivating and friendly approach towards teaching my students. Having recently completed my academic journey, I understand and can relate to many of the challenges that my students face. By maintaining a student-centred approach, I adapt my teaching in ways that benefit each individual student as I am aware that no two students are the same. I always aim to identify both the student’s strengths and weaknesses when it comes to the learning materials; by breaking down the more challenging content with simple and concise explanations, it allows for a more confident understanding of the topic at hand.
Importantly, as exams do not require simple recitation of knowledge but also involve application of knowledge too, I am able to provide students with the exam techniques needed to simplify and tackle those sorts of questions. To help consolidate the learnt knowledge and practice exam technique, many of my sessions also involve going through practice exam papers and mark schemes, which my previous students have found to be very helpful.
I strongly believe that given the right tools and encouragement, academic success is always obtainable.
