Advert description
Hello! My name is Matthew and I am a PhD biology student working and studying at the centre of gene and cell therapy at Royal Holloway University. As well as my strong interest in biology, I enjoy sharing my scientific knowledge with others and aim to do this as much as possible throughout my career in academia.
To compliment my studies I tutor junior scientists in biology with the obvious aim of improving a student’s knowledge and comprehension about the subject. Having spent many years in education, I’m fully aware that the amount of information needing to be retained for an exam can be overwhelming. Therefore, I attempt a more tiered approach to learning, focusing initially on the key concepts of each topic and then adding material from there depending on how well those initial concepts have been digested.
Additionally, I've completed a Masters by Research in Biological Sciences and hold Bachelor of Science degrees in both Molecular Biology and Electronic Engineering, where during my Molecular Biology BSc I was top student in the second year within the School of Biological Sciences and top student at Royal Holloway University by the end of my final year. Furthermore, I have years of experience working in academic, industrial, and clinical laboratories.
To date, I have one long term student with whom I’ve tutored year 8 and year 9 biology, and am interested in taking on more students at any level of study.
