Online/ in person Philosophy tutor

Advert description
I have a first class degree from the University of St Andrews in Philosophy and Management, and have two years worth of tutoring experience for first year students at my university. I am very familiar with all UK secondary school curriculum's and achieved an A grade at A level in the AQA philosophy exams in 2019. Whilst I am familiar with all philosophy topics at a secondary school level, my university areas of expertise were formal logic, ethics, meta-ethics, conceptual engineering (particularly from a metaphysical and social philosophy perspective), the philosophy of law, philosophy of religion, continental philosophy (from an analytical grounding), conceptual engineering, and ancient western philosophy.

My lessons are tailored depending on the students' needs, but they tend to be one of the following:

- A focus on explaining a particular philosophical idea and some popular criticisms, followed by a discussion with the student about their own thoughts on the matter, before sketching answers to potential questions in order to gauge comprehension of the topic (the ideas in question will be based on the curriculum the student is studying for

-A focus on answering exam/coursework style questions in more detail, looking at how answers can be improved according to the relevant marking criteria. My expertise in lessons such as these lies in ensuring students are able to create answers that prioritise clarity, soundness of arguments, and excellent critical thinking being used

-'Workshop' type lessons. These lessons are where students have a particular problem in mind that they want to go over, such as where they have received some feedback from formal work at school/university and would like some extra advice, or if they have an idea that they would like to develop more such as a more unique criticism to a philosophical idea we have been studying.

- For those NOT studying for a particular curriculum but want to engage themselves with philosophy in a structured manner, please contact me to discuss tailored lesson plans.
