Advert description
Oxford-educated Classics, Greek, and Latin tutor with a decade of teaching experience. Available to teach at GSCE, A-Level, IB, and undergraduate level.
Every student is different, and I tailor my teaching to the needs of each individual, giving them the support and encouragement they need to achieve their own goals and ambitions. I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do is ignite a genuine enthusiasm for their subject that will help students to develop into independent learners capable of flourishing on their own.
I read Egyptology and Ancient Near Eastern Studies at University College, Oxford, followed by a Master’s in Classics with Distinction from the University of Edinburgh, and a further Master’s in Classics from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. I hold a PhD in Classics from the University of St Andrews. I also have a DBS certificate. Outside tutoring, I work as an academic researcher at the University of Edinburgh.
I have extensive experience tutoring individuals and teaching larger classes. I have worked with people of all ages, from secondary school-aged children to adults. Overall, I have taught Classics, Greek, Latin, ancient history, Egyptology, and Ancient Near Eastern Studies, and I have had great student feedback over all my years of teaching.
I can prepare students for all English and Scottish exams (as well as the International Baccalaureate), up to the BA. I also have experience helping students work on their undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, and I have worked extensively with adult students.
My lessons are designed for learners studying Classical Civilisation, Ancient History, Greek, and Latin at GCSE, A-Level, or undergraduate level. I am also happy to create lessons for special interest learners who may not be in full-time education, but have a passion for Classics, ancient history, Greek, or Latin.
I tutor entirely over Teams/Skype, so I can tutor students anywhere, at any frequency. I am available from Thursday to Monday inclusive. My lessons typically last for one hour, although I am open to altering the duration to suit a learner’s timetable or needs. Feel free to get in touch to discuss your requirements. I look forward to meeting you!
