I tailor my lessons to the learning ability and preferences of each individual student. I try to create a calm and enjoyable atmosphere so the student feels comfortable in asking in questions they may have. I also think making mistakes is a really important part of learning, and I want my students to feel comfortable with making errors, and learning from them!
My lessons are engaging and fun, and are taken at the learning pace of the student.
I tend to use a combination of powerpoints, videos, and past papers to maximise learning. I think using different learning mediums like this is a good way for the student to stay engaged and it helps to use different areas of the brain, while maintaining focus.
In the past I have taught practical musical instrument lessons on the cello, to beginner groups. This was very fulfilling watching the children progress through their graded examinations. During highschool, I taught STEM lessons to an after-school club, involving both groups and one-to-one. This was great fun as biology was one of my favourite subjects in school. Recently I have taken up online tutoring, and I think it is a flexible, simple way to maximise a student's learning and ability.
I have had tutors for subjects I have struggled with myself in the past, and I know how beneficial they can be! I also know that having a tutor may sound intimidating, but it really is a great way to focus in on your own individual learning, and achieve your potential!
