Advert description
My name is Oliver, I am 23 years old and am a recent University Graduate from the University of Aberdeen, where I received an LLB and DPLP with First Class Honours and Distinction respectively. I am also future Trainee Solicitor at Pinsent Masons.
I am looking to give affordable lessons to students studying the LLB online, to help de-mystify legal concepts and principles, and to provide studying and writing clinics for those looking to improve on their examination techniques. I am looking to provide lessons in the following areas:
- Delict/Tort
- Contract
- Roman Law
- Medical Law
- Unjustified Enrichment
- Succession Law
- Essay Writing and Studying Techniques
- Essay/Work Review
- Traineeship/Vacation Scheme application advice
I am a strong believer that the legal world is often made overly complicated for students, with an inadvertent intention of creating an aura of complexity and exclusivity. While it is undeniable that law becomes this way in professional practice, this convention can often have the counter-intuitive effect of deterring students from grasping the law on an authentic level, as opposed to simply passing an exam or writing the correct words on paper. In reality, the legal world in Scotland becomes far more accessible when its basic foundations, and jargon are understood in layman's terms, and the simple techniques to study for an exam or paper (which are often wholly omitted in Universities) are shared with students.
As such, my goal is to help give students these fundamental tools on a "how and where to start" basis. The style of lessons I am looking to deliver would be personal and relaxed, with a peer-to-peer dynamic. As a recent graduate, I know the trials and tribulations of studying for an LLB all too well, so I am able to help in a relatable way!
It would be a pleasure of mine to discuss working with any students interested, and I would encourage you to get in touch to tailor your sessions in whichever way you please. I look forward to hearing from you!
