Advert description
I am an NHS Speech and Language Therapist, who also has an interest in English Language Teaching. I continue to practice as a speech and language therapist. However, I want to also support my colleagues in the health and social care work force with their English.
I have significant experience teaching conversational English on a voluntary basis and and as a result I am a friendly and approachable person who you can practice with. I also have a TEFL qualification, which means I am able to also support you with technical aspects like grammar and pronunciation.
As in my approach to patient's on my NHS Caseload, I aim to provide support that is person centered. This means we will work together setting achievable goals that are specific to your job role, and help you to progress in your career.
My health and social care career has also been wide ranging, featuring experience working both in the NHS and in Private Health and Social Care. I have also worked as both a Health Care Assistant and Speech and Language Therapist in a range of settings including medicine, stroke rehabilitation, palliative care, surgery and psychiatry. In my career, I have also worked closely with care home staff.
My career experience therefore means I understand the communication skills and vocabulary required for the role. I am also aware of the challenges that my colleagues, for whom English is a second language, experience on shift.
I am based in Dundee, Scotland. This means that I can offer both online support and in person support (for those living in/ willing to travel to Dundee).
I am happy to support a range of different colleagues of all disciplines and banding. Medical, Nursing, AHP and Health Care Academy Students are also welcome to get in touch!
