To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Laura E. Moore and I am interested in becoming a teacher in your district. For more than a decade I have worked in a variety of venues that involve working with children. My favorite positions involved working with students in a laboratory setting. I believe that through these hands-on experiences the students gain a more in-depth knowledge of the subject matter and also a greater self-confidence as they learn how to be creative in problem solving tasks. These unique experiences engender student generated questions that are key for a successful inquiry-based classroom. I also encourage students to grow academically and personally with skills that they can apply in the real-world for years to come.

Furthermore, I have obtained a Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis in curriculum design and instruction through the University of Phoenix online. I enjoy working collaboratively with colleagues to create a UBD based curriculum. I take every opportunity possible to not only foster a deep understanding of the curriculum with my students, but also to foster positive relational capacity between myself, the students, fellow co-workers, and parents as well. I enjoy learning from those around me and frequently ask a variety of my peers for their input on how I can improve my teaching of that curriculum. I also take every opportunity to enrich the lives around me by using the principles of the Love and Logic program and devote what time I can to being involved with clubs here on campus. I also have extensive experience in Capturing Kids Hearts (10+ years), PBIS (in various forms 10+years), and Restorative Justice (6 years).

I plan to continue the work I’ve done both academically and community volunteering so that I can bring the principles I learn into the working environment, and use them to fulfill any requirements and challenges of the position.
