Professional profile
I am an exemplary Lecturer and Manager with over 20 years’ experience of innovative, accredited course development, design, and delivery. I have taught a diverse suite of subjects including Sociology, Psychology, Health and Social Care, Initial Teacher Training, Mental Health Awareness, Confidence Building, Stress Awareness, Creative Writing, Psychology of Crime, An introduction to Volunteering, An Introduction to Peer Mentoring, Criminology and Employability courses and Substance Misuse Awareness.
As a Lecturer, I have achieved predominantly grade 1 and grade 2 OTL’s and have acted as a model of “good practice” for the WEA as a Lead Tutor in Mental / Health and Wellbeing. I have also been a mentor for PGCE and PDGE students on placement at Salford Adult Learning and have extensive, management experience in both, the health and educational sectors.
I have been a Moderator and Assessor for Level 1 and 2- Health and Social Care, Stress Awareness and Mental Health courses for the WEA (Workers Education Association). In this role, I was Lead Tutor for the Step into Care Programme, where over 80% of my students passed the accredited NCFE courses and over 75% achieved paid employment in the Health and Social field as a direct result of this course. In the majority of my teaching roles, I have designed, delivered and moderated for the following awarding bodies i.e. NCFE, Ascentis, City and Guilds, OCN and NOCN.
I have also delivered Undergraduate Degree Level Cultural Studies for the University of Salford.
