Dear Hiring Manager, As a qualified and experienced private tutor with over 20 years of experience, I apply with so much enthusiasm for this opportunity. I began my tutoring career while I was studying as a Mechanical Engineer at the polytechnic and university in Nigeria before relocating to the United Kingdom. In my spare time whilst in school, I tutored, Primary, secondary and even my mates in the polytechnic. I prepared students for GCSE Examinations and I had an 80% pass rate for all those I tutored. During the COVID pandemic which impacted physical classroom teaching, I began tutoring using Zoom, google Meetings, Microsoft Teams and Telegram messenger online platforms. My strength as a tutor is my ability to establish a strong trust and rapport with my students. If my students are not completing their work to a sufficient standard, I ensure they complete the work with them to ensure that they have a grasp of the topic before venturing onto a new one. I also apply cognitively guided instruction as it provides me with a window into my students' learning. For example, when presented with a word problem, I allow my students a chance to read the problem or have the problem read to them. It is true that the more comfortable a student feels in his or her learning environment, the easier it is for a tutor to successfully help the student push themselves to their full potential.
