Advert description
Hi! My name is Sarah, I recently graduated from Oxford University with a BA (1st Hons) in Psychology, Philosophy, and Linguistics. I received a score of 8.5 on my IELTS test, and have been awarded 5** on my English DSEs. I am experienced with private English tutoring, and have received great reviews from students and their parents for effective and personalised teaching.
I believe the best way to perfect a language is via use. My lessons focus on hands-on language training which helps students reach a native level in English. This includes writing tasks where I will give advice not just for grammatical accuracy, but also language flow. It also means that I conduct lessons entirely in English, though of course I will adjust the conversation speed and vocabulary level to suit the students' needs.
Lessons are always personalised to suit the individual student's interests and learning targets. My lessons typically start with a short conversation as a warm up. This is followed by a review of the student's homework, usually a writing task and a grammar excercise, assigned in the last lesson. Lastly, the lesson ends with something the student finds fun--a carefully selected podcast clip or video on a topic of their interest, or an article on something that fascinates them. Everything is flexible, and my goal is to ensure that students find my lessons enjoyable, enriching, and enlightening.
I am experienced with teaching English as a foreign language, and have tutored students for GCSEs, SAT, DSE, and IELTs. I am also experienced with English Debate tutoring and helping older speakers gain proficiency in the language.
"The limits of language are the limits of my world." Through these English lessons, I hope to help you expand your horizons, and push against the limits of your world.
